Social & Emotional

Social and emotional resources give children simple ways to name feelings, talk about them and practise getting on with others, at home or at school. Faces, puppets and feelings words sit alongside soft, squishy things for quieter moments.

The Feelings Fan shows 12 faces with matching words, and the Feelings Family Hand Puppets act out five feelings for storytelling and role play. Express Your Feelings Sensory Bottles pair a face with flowing liquid to watch. Cloud Putty and the Weighted Sensory Snake are there when a child needs a break from talking. If words are hard, start with something visual. See our good behaviour resources and Zones of Regulation resources.

Social & Emotional: your questions answered

What are social and emotional learning resources?

They are toys and games that give children ways to name feelings, talk about them and practise getting on with others. Here that means the Feelings Fan, the Feelings Family Hand Puppets and the Express Your Feelings Sensory Bottles, plus putty and a weighted snake for calmer moments. Families, classrooms and SEN settings all use them.

Which feelings are shown on the Feelings Fan?

The Feelings Fan has 12 faces, each with its matching word: scared, confused, excited, worried, cry, cross, sad, happy, calm, angry, laugh and ill. It is robust and marked age 3+. A child can point to the face that fits, which is often easier than finding the word.

Are these resources only for children with special educational needs?

No. Every young child is still learning to name and manage feelings, so these resources suit mainstream classrooms and homes as well as SEN settings. Check the age guidance on each product page: the Feelings Fan is marked 3+, and the hand puppets are sized to fit a child's hands and most adults'.
