Relaxation & Massage

Relaxation and massage resources for children and adults, from hand-held vibrating massagers to cushions, putty and soft weighted snakes. Used at home, in schools, sensory rooms and care settings for quiet, unhurried time.

Popular pieces include the vibrating bug massagers (single or as a set of two), the twisty ribbed vibrating snake, which bends into shape and takes 2 x C batteries, and the vibrating sensory cushion in ten colours. A switch adapted bug massager lets people who use an accessibility switch turn it on themselves, and the LED magic power globe adds something to watch. Tip: if someone dislikes vibration, start with weight or texture instead. See also calming sensory toys and switches and controllers.

Relaxation & Massage: your questions answered

Is there a soft cover for the twisty vibrating snake?

Yes, a soft cover is sold separately for anyone who prefers a softer feel against the skin. The twisty ribbed vibrating snake itself is flexible, so it bends into the shape you need, and it gives a gentle vibration. It runs on 2 x C batteries.

How do switch adapted massagers work?

You plug an accessibility switch into the massager, and the switch then turns it on. The switch adapted animal massager bug comes as a ladybird, a frog or a bee, with its 2 x AA batteries included; the switch itself is sold separately. See our switch adapted toys for more.

Can massage and relaxation toys be used in a sensory room?

Yes. A vibrating cushion to lean on, a hand-held massager and the LED magic power globe make a simple relaxation set-up for a sensory room or quiet den. Ear defenders are useful for anyone who finds the room noisy. For larger equipment, see sensory room equipment.
